Many of us tend to chew on pencils when we are stressed, or use a toothpick to clean our teeth. Unfortunately, this can allow items to become lodged between your teeth.

In this video, the American Dental Association discusses what steps to take if an object gets caught between your teeth or gums. The first step to take when an object becomes stuck in your teeth is to remain calm and go to a mirror with good lighting. You can attempt to remove the item using dental floss—however, if you are unable to remove the item you will want to see your emergency dentist. Learn more in this video.
