Cascade Dental

Dear Dr. Seemuth,

The Lower Columbia College Global Medical Brigade would like to thank you for your donation of 25 toothbrushes and dental floss. We were able to provide medical and dental care to just under 600 people in Granadilla, Honduras in August. There were 16 of us students that attended the brigade. We were very blessed by the people we met over there. The patients that we treated were very grateful for our services. This country is very poor and the residents in the small outlying communities have no access to medical/dental care otherwise.

It is because of kind hearted people, such as yourself, that we were able to take a suitcase full of floss, toothbrushes and toothpaste with us to give to residence over there. We had two dental stations. One was where the dentist would take care of patients and then us students had a station where we would teach the children how to brush and floss their teeth. The majority of the children bad quite a few rotten, broken or even remnants of teeth. It amazed me how they could even eat, when we Americans complain when we have a sensitive tooth.

I think we all learned a lot from our experience over in Honduras this summer. We are excited to be able to continue this work next year too. Thank you again for helping us in our attempts to gather enough supplies to take with us for the dental part of our mission. May God bless you and your staff as you provide services to those in our country and beyond.
